Alert officers detained a man believed to be involved in a road rage incident after spotting the suspect’s vehicle travelling on Grain Road.


The incident happened on Sunday 20 February 2022 shortly before 1pm on High Street, Lower Stoke.

It is reported a motorist, travelling with his children, had pulled over to allow for a truck to pass at a narrowing. As the truck passed it is reported the driver leant out of the window and smashed the wing mirror of the stationary vehicle with a hammer.



The wing mirror was damaged in the incident and the victim and his children were shaken.



The victim called the police with the vehicle details and officers spotted the truck on Grain Road at around 3pm. The truck was stopped and the officers conducted a search.

They located two knives and a hammer and the driver was detained.


A man in his twenties and from the West Sussex area was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and a public order offence. He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
