On Saturday 12th March 2022 the Past Town Mayor of Folkestone (2019-2020), Councillor Jackie Meade, will finally be holding a charity art auction, raising funds for her chosen charities The Rainbow Centre, Living Words and For Young People.

The Art Auction was originally scheduled to take place in March 2020, but, due to the pandemic, had to be postponed until now.

Cllr Jackie Meade said “I am really excited to be able to finally hold the charity art auction containing some beautiful, stunning and very valuable donations from many local and internationally renowned artists. After two years of waiting, we can finally raise some much-needed funds for some very worthy, local charities.

I feel honoured and humbled at the support received, with Melissa Jackson and her colleagues from Kent Auction Galleries donating their time and use of their equipment, with free use of the Leas Cliff Hall from the District Council and easyliveauction.com allowing their platform to be used to also facilitate the auction online, and that is all in addition to the wonderful donated pieces of artwork.

The question still remains from two years ago, is it a Banksy or not? We are very lucky indeed to have received such great support for the event to go ahead. I urge anyone interested to have a look at the online catalogue available via easyliveauction.com/kent or by visiting the Mayor of Folkestone’s Charities on Facebook.

A catalogue will also be available in advance to purchase from the Town Hall in Folkestone or on the day at the Leas Cliff Hall.”

The lots range from items donated by Steve Lilly, Charles Newington, Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn, Eddie Locke, Ewan McCaulty, Bryan Hovercraft, Tej Tamang and many, many more………….the lots also include the Past Mayor’s Banksy Elephant Bomber which, although awaiting authentication by Pest Control, is generating a lot of interest.

The auction will take place in the Channel Suite in the Leas Cliff Hall with doors opening on the day from 10.30am for viewing and bidder registration, with the auction starting at 12 noon. Bidders can also register and bid online via easyliveauction.com/kent
