Witnesses are sought following a suspected arson in Canterbury.

On Saturday 5 March 2022, a PCSO on patrol in the Military Road area of the city was informed that the statue outside the offices of Canterbury City Council was on fire.

Enquiries since the incident suggest a man approached the statue shortly after 9pm that evening and set it on fire.

An investigation is ongoing and officers would like to speak to anyone who has any information which may assist enquiries.

In particular, officers wish to speak to two men who were seen speaking to the suspect in the area around the time of the fire.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/48475/22.
