Four suspected drug dealers have been arrested and cocaine seized from a safe at a Maidstone address.

At around 1pm on Monday 28 March 2022, officers from the town’s Community Policing Team were on patrol in Boxley Road, where they saw a car they suspected was being used in connection with the supply of drugs.

They stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver. He was detained for a search and the constables seized five deals of cocaine and a quantity of cash.

Arrest

The suspect was arrested and the patrols immediately attended a town centre address to complete a search of the premises.

The officers recovered six bags of cocaine and a quantity of cash from inside a safe at the property, along with further money from a bedroom.

Two men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences and taken into custody.

Ion Dragomir and Ionut Merchez, both of Sheals Crescent, Maidstone were later charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of cocaine. Mr Dragomir was also charged with counts of driving a vehicle without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Mr Dragomir, aged 21, and Mr Merchez, aged 29, were both remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 30 March.

A 49-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man who had also been arrested were bailed to return to the police station on 25 April.
