A suspected burglar has appeared in court charged with multiple offences after break-ins at businesses in Canterbury.

Kent Police’s Victim Based Crime Team investigated reports of burglaries at shops in the city centre between January and May 2022.

Following enquiries, Stephen Field was arrested and charged with 10 offences:

• Seven counts of burglary, relating to offences at shops in Canterbury between Wednesday 5 January and Wednesday 18 May.

• Two offences of receiving stolen goods, relating to a phone and an electric bike.

• The theft of a bicycle in Canterbury between Friday 18 and Saturday 19 March.

The 32-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 28 May and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 27 June.
