Officers investigating an assault in Whitstable are appealing for a potentially important witness to come forward.

Shortly after midnight on the morning of Saturday 14 May 2022, a man and a woman were assaulted in the town’s High Street, near the junction with Harbour Street.

Both victims were taken to hospital by South East Coast Ambulance Service and were later discharged.

Potential witness

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and detectives are very keen to speak to a man who may have seen the attack.

The witness is described as a white man, in his mid-20s with short, dark hair. He was wearing a zip-up hooded top, dark trousers and Nike trainers at the time.

PC Emma Wheeler, of East Kent CID, said: ‘As with any crime we investigate, we want to get all of the available information we can.

‘This man was in the area at the time the assault took place and for that reason we are hoping he will come forward and tell us about anything he saw.’

Four people have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm in relation to the assault and are due to appear before Canterbury Crown Court in December.
