A driver who failed to stop for police in Westerham was pursued to Tonbridge and detained after crashing on the A26 slip road.

Patrols tried to stop the motorist at around 12.30am on Sunday 10 July 2022, on suspicion of speeding.

The tactical pursuit continued at high-speed along the A25, onto the A21, and then as the vehicle left via a slip road to join the A26 it mounted the kerb, its tyre burst and the driver collided with a barrier.

The car carried on for a short distance before it came to a stop and two people ran from the scene.

Drugs arrest

The driver aged 25 from Tonbridge was detained following a foot chase and failed a roadside drugs test. He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink and drugs. He has since been released from custody pending further investigation.
