An investigation into a stabbing in Rochester has led to two men being charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.

Blood on a front door

A member of the public called Kent Police at 5.30pm on Thursday 7 July 2022, after they saw blood on a front door of a flat in The Fairway, Rochester.

Officers went to the address and inside they found a man who had injuries consistent with stab wounds to his head and hand. He was also suffering from other assault injuries. The victim was taken to hospital where he remains.

As part of the investigation officers arrested two people on suspicion of assault.

Lewis Barovbe, 25, of no fixed address, and Stephen Gillard, 32, of Trevale Road, Rochester, were both arrested on Monday 11 July and were subsequently both charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

They appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 12 July where they were remanded to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 8 August.
