Police officers have helped to save the life of a baby which stopped breathing in Sheerness.
Vital first aid was provided to the 11-month-old after emergency services were called at 8.04am on Monday 12 July 2022.
Kent Police was told the baby boy was inside an address in St George’s Avenue, where he had become limp and unresponsive.
Two officers, who were late finishing their shift and on their way back to Sheerness police station, responded to the call, knowing they were only two minutes away from the address.
When they arrived they immediately commenced CPR and by 8.15am the baby was conscious and breathing again.
South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and the baby was taken to a local hospital.

Inspector Stephen Callow of Swale’s Local Policing Team, said: ‘The quick-thinking actions by these two officers undoubtedly helped to save the life of this child, and while the officers may think it is ‘all part of the job’ they certainly went above and beyond in order to ensure this incident ended as positively as it could have. Officers do exceptional work every day, most of which the public are not privy to and this incident is just one example of that’.
