‘Don’t Mess it Up’ is a brand new campaign encouraging visitors and residents not to litter and spoil the Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh district.
Highlighting beauty spots around the district the campaign aims to encourage litterers to think twice before dumping their rubbish for someone else to deal with and to take their litter home if bins are full or not available.
The campaign also highlights the fines for littering ranging from the minimum on the spot Fixed Penalty Notices of £100 to fines as high as £2,500 for those who are prosecuted and convicted.
Enforcement officers will be supporting the campaign, targeting hotspot areas to deal with those acting irresponsibly.
Cllr Stuart Peall, Cabinet Member for Enforcement, Regulatory Services, Waste and Building Control, said: “Litter isn’t just a blight on our landscape – it’s a danger to wildlife too. By working together, we can keep our beautiful district litter free and a place to be proud of.”
Leader Cllr David Monk said: “Small actions can make a big difference when it comes to keeping our district litter free. We hope this campaign will deter litterbugs and help keep our area safe and clean for all to enjoy.”
