A man has died in hospital following a report of an assault in Maidstone.

Kent Police was called with ambulance crews to the Hare and Hounds public house in Lower Boxley Road, shortly after 8.35pm on Saturday 20 August 2022.

Andrew Loosley, aged 47, had sustained injuries during a reported altercation and was taken to a London hospital

On Monday 22 August, a suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody.

Charged 

John Gibbs, aged 18, of Nickley Wood, Ashford was charged on the morning of Wednesday 24 August, with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He later appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 21 September.

Mr Loosley was pronounced deceased at hospital during the evening of Wednesday 24 August.

Investigating officers are continuing to urge anybody who witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist enquiries, to contact the appeal line.
