Vehicles used in crime and motorists committing road traffic offences will be targeted as part of an ongoing operation across north Kent.

The proactive operation will see dedicated patrols working across Dartford, Gravesham, Medway and Swale and will involve officers setting up roadside checks.

Drivers found to be using vehicles illegally, drink or drug driving or driving vehicles which have not been adequately maintained will be dealt with appropriately and robustly.

The operation will also target criminals travelling into the area and will make use of the police’s stop and search powers to ensure any weapons or drugs found are seized and removed.

The operation started in October 2022 and has so far seen officers carry out roadside checks in Dartford and Swale.

Insp Jamie Little, of north Kent Local Policing Team said: ‘This operation will see an increased police presence which I hope reassures residents across north Kent that we are not just responding to reports but actively patrolling across the districts as well.

‘Law abiding motorists have nothing to be concerned about, we are only interested in those drivers who willingly use vehicles to break the law. Roadside checks will be in place at various times in different locations and those found to be committing offences will be dealt with appropriately and proportionately.
