Kent Police was called to Borstal Street at 11.55pm on Saturday 5 November 2022 following a report a man had suffered a serious assault.

Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was taken to a London hospital, where he remains receiving treatment.

Arrest

A 31-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody.

The road was closed on the morning of Sunday 6 November while officers carried out enquiries, but reopened at around midday.

Officers investigating the incident are asking anyone who saw what happened, or was at the scene when police arrived but has yet to make a statement, to get in contact.

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the Wouldham Road or Borstal Street area, near St Matthew’s Church, from around 11.30pm on Saturday 5 November to midnight, is also urged to get in touch.
