Patrolling officers have arrested a motorist after he failed to pull over when requested to do so in Chatham.

Officers from Medway’s Community Policing Team were on a routine patrol when a car came to their attention on Monday 9 January 2023.

A quick vehicle check showed the car was being driven without insurance and they requested the driver to stop.

However, the motorist continued to drive and was pursued by police at a safe distance, before he was involved in a collision in Princes Avenue at around 12.45pm.

After the incident, the driver fled the vehicle and attempted to run away, however officers followed him on foot and he was arrested in Emily Road.

He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and driving without insurance.

The suspect was later bailed to return to the police station on Monday 10 April.
