Officers from the Maidstone Town Centre Task Force have arrested two suspected thieves they stopped while on foot patrol.
On Tuesday 14 February 2023, the two constables were walking in King Street when they noticed the security alarm at Boots the Chemist had activated. At the same time, a woman was walking out of the premises. They spoke to her and then seized a quantity of suspected stolen cosmetics.
One of the officers then entered the store where members of staff directed them to a second woman walking towards the exit. She was stopped and a further quantity of suspected stolen property was seized. Both women were detained and taken into custody.
A woman from Erith, Greater London and another from New Cross were later charged with acting together to steal cosmetics valued at £1,945. They were conditionally bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 14 April.
