Police investigating an aggravated burglary have charged a man following a report of a violent incident in Gillingham.
On Sunday 12 February 2023 the victim reported that a man known to him had assaulted him in a communal stairway before forcing his way inside the victim’s flat in St Albans Close.
During the incident the man, and two others are also reported to have entered the victim’s property where they continued to assault him before they fled the scene. One person is reported to have used a hammer to inflict injuries.
On Tuesday 14 February officers charged a 27-year-old man from Gillingham, with aggravated burglary. He appeared before Maidstone Crown Court on the same day where he was remanded and is due to appear back at the court on Tuesday 14 March.
