On Friday 17 February 2023, patrols from the Maidstone Town Centre Task Force were called to Week Street, where a man appeared drunk and was being abusive as people were walking past him.
He was arrested following which it is reported an officer was assaulted.
Later the same day, the suspect was taken to hospital for medical attention where it is alleged a curtain was spat on and a further officer assaulted. Persistent violent threats were also made towards those who were present.
The man from Maidstone was later charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage, a public order offence and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
The 33-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was bailed return to a hearing on 12 April.
