Kent Fire and Rescue Service has attended a number of incidents between 11.30pm on 1 November and 9am today (2 November) as a result of Storm Ciarán.

Crews have responded to four storm-related calls, including unsecure structures in Liden Crescent and Bonsor Road, Folkestone, and a report of sparking cables in Rusham Road in Shatterling, Canterbury.

The technical rescue unit also removed a tree that was obstructing a main route in Kennington Road, in Willesborough, Ashford.

Members of the public are reminded to only call 999 in an emergency and to contact the relevant service they might need, such as for loss of power or fallen trees, which might not require a blue light response. If there is an immediate risk to life, dial 999 for help.

To help reduce the risk of an emergency, it’s important to take extra care when travelling, adapt your driving to reflect the weather conditions and remember not to drive through floodwater.

If you have vulnerable neighbours, take the time to check on them and make sure they’re safe and have everything they need.
