A man from Suffolk is to appear in court following an investigation into a sexual assault on a teenage girl in Dover.

Kent Police was called to St James Street at around 10.00pm on Sunday 3 December 2023.

It was reported that a teenage girl walking down the street had been approached by a man who made inappropriate comments and touched her arm and face before members of the public intervened.

Officers arrived at the scene and were subsequently told of a report that a person had been trying the door handles of vehicles in the same area.

Detectives investigating the incident have subsequently charged a 28-year-old man from Ipswich, with one count of sexual touching, vehicle interference, and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 5 December.
