A man who tried to steal a cash till from a dry-cleaning shop in Commercial Road, Paddock Wood, on Tuesday morning, ran off when a customer walked in.
The incident took place between 8.30am and 9.30am on 5 December 2023.
The suspect was described as a white man with black, wavy hair and a medium build. He was wearing dark trousers and a dark backpack and was estimated to be in his late 20s or early 30s.
Police are appealing for witnesses, especially the customer who interrupted the attempted robbery, to come forward with any information that could help the investigation. They are also asking for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to check it and contact them.
