A suspected burglar has been charged in connection with the theft of three paintings from a house in Sevenoaks.

The burglary took place between Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 January 2024, at an address in Kippington Road. It is alleged three paintings were stolen, along with various items of jewellery and ornaments. The keys to a Saab car were also taken and the vehicle was then stolen from the driveway.

A media appeal for information was issued by Kent Police and on Wednesday 17 January and a man and a woman were arrested.

A man aged 34, from Sevenoaks was later charged with burglary. He was remanded to a hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 January. A 34-year-old woman who was also arrested was bailed, pending further enquiries, to return to a police station on 10 April.

The investigation has led to the recovery of some of the stolen property but the paintings have not yet been found. Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to contact them. They also urging anyone who may have been offered items such as those described as stolen to get in touch.
