A prompt response and investigation by officers has led to a suspect being arrested in connection with a serious assault in Sheerness at the weekend.

On Sunday 25 February 2024, the victim was walking in Alma Street at around 2pm when a man he knew approached and reportedly assaulted him. He suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds and was treated in hospital. He has since been discharged.

The suspect fled in a vehicle and officers completed enquiries at the scene including the examination of CCTV in the area.

Around two hours later a 49-year-old local man was arrested and taken into custody.
