In a shocking daylight incident, two women reportedly attempted to rob an elderly woman after she stumbled and fell in the heart of Gravesend. The incident occurred in the pedestrian area of Windmill Street around 11:30 am on Monday.

The victim, in her 80s, was accosted while vulnerable on the ground as the assailants allegedly tried to snatch her jewellery. Their attempt was foiled when the pensioner’s cries for help scared them away, leaving without any stolen items.

Described as being in their 30s, approximately five feet in height, and with dark hair, the women remain at large. Authorities are now seeking witnesses to step forward. They are also requesting local residents and businesses to review any CCTV footage that may have captured the attempted robbery.

Kent Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact them at 01474 366149, citing the crime reference number 46/48565/24. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted to Crimestoppers at 0800 555111 or through their online form.
