A serious assault in Chatham has prompted an urgent appeal from investigators for witnesses and video evidence.

At approximately 4:55 PM on April 1, Kent Police responded to an emergency at a High Street property where a man in his thirties was discovered with significant injuries. The victim was urgently airlifted to a London hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

The assault is believed to have occurred earlier that day, between 11 AM and 2 PM, on Magpie Hall Road near Newnham Street. A 53-year-old suspect has been arrested and is in custody.

The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate has initiated a thorough investigation and is calling on anyone who may have witnessed the event to come forward. Additionally, they are requesting that local drivers with dashcams and residents with private CCTV review their footage for any material that may be pertinent to the case.
