The vibrant Sagarmatha Gurkha Nepalese community in Ashford recently demonstrated their incredible generosity by donating a heartwarming collection of 29 boxes of food items and a generous £501 in cash to FareShare Kent, a vital local food bank.
Organized by the dedicated members of Sagarmatha Gurkha Nepalese Community Ashford Kent (SGNCAK), this act of kindness was presented to Debbie Burden, a Food Partnership Manager, at the SGNCAK office on December 20th, 2024.
This heartwarming display of support highlights the compassionate spirit of the Gurkha community and their commitment to making a positive impact on their local area.
SGNCAK president Mr Dammar Limbu said:
“The festive period brings so much joy and happiness each year around the globe but unfortunately due to various challenges and difficulties, many individuals and families are struggling.
“A team led by youth vice chairperson, Mr Shikar Limbu, co-ordinated the fundraising. With so many kind people in our community and business participating in this year’s appeal, we managed to collect 29 boxes of food and a donation of £501 to FareShare Ashford.”
“This would not have been possible without our generous donors. There are too many to list but our top donors included Store 93, Himalayan Mini Mart, Gurkha Superstore and Variety Cash N Carry.”
