A suspected stolen vehicle has been brought to a stop on the M25 by roads policing officers following its theft in Maidstone.

The Toyota Hilux was reportedly stolen from a property near Sutton Road on Friday, May 9, 2025. Two days later, the owner contacted Kent Police after a tracker on the vehicle indicated it was being driven from Tonbridge towards Orpington.

Patrols were dispatched and the vehicle was located as it travelled through the Dartford Crossing. When the driver allegedly failed to stop for officers, Kent Police, with assistance from Essex Police, brought the Hilux to a controlled stop on the M25.

A 24-year-old man from Orpington was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop for a police officer, and criminal damage to police vehicles. He has since been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.
