A rapid response by law enforcement resulted in a number of individuals suspected of a city centre robbery in Canterbury nabbed by cops over the weekend. Four male teenagers have subsequently been charged in connection with the incident, which saw an individual assaulted and their belongings stolen.

The incident occurred near a popular shopping area in the city on a recent Sunday evening at approximately 8:10 PM. Police were alerted to a robbery in progress after witnesses reported seeing a man being assaulted by a group.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in his early twenties who had sustained injuries requiring hospital treatment. He has since been released. The victim also reported that a number of personal items, including a phone and a bag, were taken during the alleged assault. It is understood that the victim may have known at least one member of the group.

Although the suspects had fled the scene just prior to the police’s arrival, officers tracked down and detained three of the individuals involved within five minutes of the initial emergency call. The final person believed to be involved was located and arrested at a residential address 36 hours later.

Following investigations, the four individuals, all aged 19, were formally charged with robbery. They were held in custody and appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court shortly after their arrest. All four have since been granted bail and are scheduled to appear before the Canterbury Crown Court next month.
