Authorities have expanded their investigation into a suspected human trafficking operation after a sixth individual was charged with conspiring to facilitate illegal entry into the UK.

This development stems from a significant enforcement action at the port of Dover, where a heavy goods vehicle was intercepted during the final weekend of January. Upon inspection by officials at the coastal gateway, twenty-three Bangladeshi nationals were discovered concealed within the vehicle.

The most recent suspect, a private hire driver from East London, was detained at his residence several days after the initial port seizure. Following a formal interrogation, he appeared in court and was ordered to remain in detention. This legal progression follows the earlier apprehension of five other men connected to the same organized crime inquiry on the cross-border transit through the Kent docks.

The entire group of six accused men remains in custody as the judicial process moves closer. They are scheduled for their next legal hearing at the crown court in Canterbury at the beginning of March, as investigators continue to probe the logistics of the smuggling attempt which was thwarted at the border.
