Kent Police was called at 5.45pm yesterday, Monday 23 February 2026, to Sturry Road, following a collision involving a white Vauxhall Viva and a pedestrian, near to Kingsmead Road.

Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the pedestrian, a man in his 90s, was taken to a local hospital having sustained multiple injuries. The driver of the car, a 73 year old man, was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody pending further enquiries.

An investigation is underway and officers are urging anyone who saw the collision, or the vehicle or pedestrian prior to it, to come forward. Witnesses, including those with relevant video footage to assist enquiries, should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/30037/26.
