RAMSGATE — A multi-year investigation into the death of a 13-week-old boy has culminated in a murder charge against a local man.
The case dates back to the morning of July 15, 2022, when emergency responders were called to a residence on Queen Street following reports of an injured infant. The 13-week-old boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced death later that day.
Following the initial incident, a suspect was arrested and released on bail while detectives conducted extensive enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the infant’s injuries.
On Monday, February 23, 2026, authorities officially charged Tyla Wharmby, 24, of Ramsgate, in connection with the death. He faces one count of murder and a further charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Mr. Wharmby has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to make his initial appearance before the Medway Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, February 24.
