The London-bound A2 turned into a fiery bottleneck Monday afternoon as a tractor erupted in flames near Singlewell.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at 12:13 PM, facing a wall of heat and smoke. Firefighters donned breathing apparatus and deployed high-pressure foam to battle the inferno while police and highway officers shuttered the carriageway, bringing travel to a grinding halt.

The response quickly intensified, pulling in three fire engines, a bulk water carrier, and a technical rescue unit to prevent the blaze from spreading. While the tractor was being gutted by the flames, paramedics treated one person at the scene for a lucky escape.

By 4:02 PM, the smoke had cleared and the danger was over and the wreckage was cleared, but the echoes of the disruption lingered for evening commuters.
