CANTERBURY — Residents on Hardres Court Road were given an early wake-up call this morning as Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to a chimney fire on the outskirts of Canterbury.

The emergency call came in at 03:57 AM on 1 March, prompting a swift response from local stations. Two fire engines arrived on the scene to find a fire contained within the flue of a residential property.

Firefighters spent approximately an hour and a half battling the blaze. To minimize water damage to the home while ensuring the fire was completely suppressed, crews used specialised chimney gear.

The incident was officially declared under control by 05:28 AM. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the cause of the ignition remains under investigation.
