Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to an emergency in Cavell Crescent, Dartford, late Saturday evening following reports of a fire within a residential bedroom. The incident, which began shortly after 9:00 PM on March 7, 2026, saw two fire engines dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus entered the property to tackle the flames. The crew successfully extinguished the fire using high-pressure hose reel jets and subsequently deployed positive pressure ventilation fans to clear the building of smoke. The operation was over within the hour, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Fire investigators believe the blaze was sparked by an electric heater and in the wake of the incident, fire officials are reminding the public to prioritize safety when using heating appliances. Residents should ensure that all heaters are serviced regularly and kept at a safe distance from combustible materials such as curtains and furniture. Additionally, fitting extra guards can provide an added layer of protection.

If you have any concerns regarding the safe operation of your gas or electrical appliances, please contact your utility provider for a professional inspection.
