Kent Police was called just after 2pm on Saturday 14 March 2026 to reports of a woman being attacked by a man with scissors outside a private property on The Chase. Officers attended alongside paramedics, who treated the woman in her 80s for injuries consistent with stab wounds.
Her injuries are not believed to be life changing or threatening but she was taken to a London hospital for further treatment.
A man was also reportedly assaulted by the suspect, who was unknown to the victims, before officers were able to locate and arrested him just after 2.30pm.
A man aged 25, has been charged with wounding with intent, causing actual bodily harm and making threats with a bladed weapon in public. The man from Gillingham, was remanded in custody until his first appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 March. In response to this incident, increased patrols will be present in the area. Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances, however it is believed to be an isolated incident.
