Kent Police have dealt a significant blow to organized crime following a large-scale tactical operation targeting the distribution of illegal weapons and Class A drugs across the county. The intensive two-day enforcement action led to the apprehension of nearly 20 suspects as investigators worked to dismantle criminal networks operating in several key towns.

The coordinated strikes began on the evening of Tuesday, March 31, when specialized units executed warrants in Swanscombe, Sittingbourne, Dartford, and Canterbury, resulting in an initial 11 arrests. The momentum continued into Wednesday, April 1, with a further six individuals taken into custody across Swanscombe and Greenhithe.

Following a rigorous review of the evidence, police have formally charged six individuals with serious firearms offences. These defendants are scheduled to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court this coming weekend. Beyond the weapons charges, certain members of the group face additional counts related to the possession and distribution of cocaine, the illegal sale of firearms to uncertified buyers, and the possession of bladed weapons.

The legal proceedings have highlighted the breadth of the investigation, which spans several age groups and locations. While six suspects remain in custody pending their court appearance, five others, including two teenagers and three adults have been released on bail with instructions to return for further questioning in June. An additional six men, ranging in age from 19 to 46, remain in police custody as detectives continue their inquiries into the illicit trade of firearms and narcotics within the region.
