Emergency services rushed to the borders of Knole Park in Sevenoaks yesterday afternoon following reports of a significant vegetation fire. Four fire engines alongside a specialized all-terrain utility vehicle with crews battled to contain the spreading flames.
The incident, which escalated shortly after 3:30 pm on Monday, has prompted a major response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters used specialized wildfire equipment, including drag rakes and portable water spray flexi-packs, to tackle the undergrowth. While emergency teams report making good progress in bringing the blaze under control, a substantial amount of thick smoke continued to drift across the area.
Local residents and business owners situated near Knole Park were being strongly advised to keep all windows and doors securely closed as a precaution against the smoke. Furthermore, motorists and pedestrians are urged to completely avoid the surrounding roads to allow emergency vehicles clear access to the site.
