Detectives investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Whitstable are appealing for witnesses and footage following the death of a teenager.
The incident occurred on Chestfield Road, directly outside the Chestfield Barn public house, shortly before 8.15pm on Friday 24 July 2026. An 18-year-old motorcyclist tragically died at the scene following a collision involving his bike and a white Mercedes A180. The victim’s next of kin have been notified.
Following the collision, it was reported that a male passenger or occupant from the Mercedes rode the deceased’s motorcycle away from the location. The vehicle has not yet been recovered by investigating officers.
At approximately 9.50pm later that evening, an 18-year-old man voluntarily attended Canterbury police station. He was arrested in connection with the incident and currently remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the event. Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam, video doorbell, or mobile phone footage of either vehicle prior to or following the incident, to get in touch.
