Police say a bag and its contents, worth an estimated £1,700, had been reported missing after it fell from a moving vehicle in London Road at around 8.45am on 18 February 2024. The bag contained valuable items, including the victim’s family passports, iPads, a GPS watch, and car keys.

The victim stopped his vehicle shortly after and returned to find the bag, but it had allegedly already been removed.

A man who reportedly found a bag filled with passports and electronics at the roadside has now been charged with theft.

An investigation by the West Division Victim-Based Crime Team led to the arrest of a 35-year-old from Tunbridge Wells, who was later charged with theft by finding on Thursday 18 April. He has since been bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 1 May.
