Kent County Council (KCC) is taking a positive step to improve traffic flow and safety in Ashford. They’ve introduced new technology to help keep the roads clear and moving for everyone.
It’s good news for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians with KCC working to reduce dangerous manoeuvres, congestion, and disruptions on Ashford’s roads.
With the government’s recent changes, KCC can now enforce certain moving traffic offences, like ignoring “no entry” signs, making illegal turns, blocking yellow box junctions, and using bus lanes for non-permitted vehicles. To make the transition smooth, KCC is starting with a six-month warning period. During this time, drivers who accidentally commit one of these offences will receive a friendly reminder. After that, fines will be issued for repeat offenders and those who violate the rules from the start.
