This week Dover and Deal MP, Natalie Elphicke, pictured above, attended the opening of The Sunrise Café in Dover.

The café is a community café where all meals are prepared, cooked and served by experienced cooks and volunteers. The café serves breakfast, midmorning coffee, lunch and cake.

This is a social enterprise for the Dover community and is operated on a ‘pay what you can afford’ model. The café aims to provide food for all, including those who are hungry and struggling to put a meal on the table.

Commenting , Mrs Elphicke said: “I would like to congratulate everyone at the Sunrise Café Dover launch. Lively music, lots of laughter and a warm welcome.

“The ‘pay what you can afford’ model will help families or individuals, who are struggling. This café is a great addition to Dover.

“After a difficult year it is wonderful to see people pulling together and helping each other make ends meet, especially in our community.”
