Two men are facing robbery and weapons charges following a swift police response to suspicious behaviour at Ashford railway station. Officers rushed to the scene on the afternoon of Friday 7 August after receiving reports of a knife being sighted in the area.
Subsequent enquiries led patrols to a shopping centre on Kimberley Way, where two suspects were detained. During a search of the surrounding area, officers uncovered cash, a quantity of cannabis, two large knives, and a safe believed to be stolen property.
Police later linked the discovery to a robbery reported in the town earlier that same day, during which threats were made to a resident before a safe was taken from an address in Hackfield.
Both individuals were taken into custody and subsequently charged with robbery alongside knife and drug offences. They appeared before Folkestone magistrates on 10 August and have been remanded in custody pending an appearance at Canterbury Crown Court on 7 September.
