A 21-year-old man from Ramsgate has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in the town.
Kent Police were called to reports of a man armed with a knife near the harbour area at around 04:47 BST on Sunday 23 August 2026. Emergency services attended the scene, where two men were discovered with injuries consistent with stab wounds in Harbour Street and Harbour Parade. Both were taken to a local hospital, where 52-year-old Ashley Jones was later pronounced dead. The second victim, a 48-year-old man, was treated and has since been discharged. Detectives identified a third victim, a 45-year-old man, who was uninjured during the incident.
A suspect was arrested shortly after officers arrived at the scene. The Crown Prosecution Service has now authorised charges of murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, attempted murder, and possession of a bladed article in a public place. The accused is scheduled to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 26 August.
