Ten burglary charges have been authorised against a man who is said to have targeted shops across Kent.

On Wednesday 17 June 2021, a 40-year-old from Ilford, London was arrested following an investigation into burglaries across Rochester, Gillingham, Gravesend, Sittingbourne, Tonbridge, Greenhithe and Aylesford.

During these incidents, the suspect is said to have entered a staff only area before taking cash from a till.

He has since been charged by the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad with seven burglary offences committed in Kent, and a further three committed at stores in Bexleyheath, Ilford and Chelmsford.

He has also been charged with an additional count of theft, following a report that cash was stolen from a shop in Brentwood.

The combined value of cash taken is reported to be in excess of £2,500, with the offences taking place between August 2019 and June 2021.

The suspect has been remanded in custody to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 17 June.
