Do you want help to kickstart your opportunities for the future – as part of our work to continue to support recovery and growth across the district, Dover District Council is creating 11 new posts under the Government’s Kickstart scheme.

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create jobs for 16 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit, with funding to cover posts for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months.

The posts at DDC will be in a range of teams across the Council, giving extensive opportunities to learn new skills and gain key experience. In addition, the Council will provide employability support to the young people, with the aim being for the posts to lead to full-time employment opportunities for them, either at the Council or elsewhere within the district.

Opportunities under the scheme at DDC include:

  • HR Admin Assistant
  • Legal Office Assistant
  • Housing Development Assistant
  • Grounds Maintenance Operative
  • Planning Policy Assistant
  • Accountancy Support Assistant
  • Housing Admin Assistant
  • Financial Services Support Assistant
  • Regulatory Services Assistant
  • Print and Postal Services Assistant
  • Audit Assistant.

This also follows news this spring that DDC provided Dover, Deal and District Citizens Advice with an additional grant of £60,000 to help them to provide an Employment and Recovery service for two years.

Cllr Oliver Richardson, DDC Cabinet Member for Community said: “We are delighted to take part in the Kickstart scheme, and to continue to provide a range of opportunities for young people in our communities. This is especially important as we move forward following the challenges of the pandemic, and as we continue to support recovery and growth for the future.”
