A suspect has been charged with carrying out a hate crime in Tunbridge Wells town centre.
At around 3.30pm on Thursday 7 April 2022, a police officer and police community support officer were called to Camden Road following a report a civil enforcement officer had been racially abused, threatened and assaulted.
A suspect was detained and taken to a local hospital for medical attention. Whilst there it is alleged he made racist remarks at medical staff and acted aggressively towards the officers who had accompanied him.
Charged
Kevin Davis, of Albert Street, Tunbridge Wells was later charged with racially aggravated assault, assault by beating, assaulting an emergency worker and four public order offences.
The 56-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 8 April.
