A prolific burglar who targeted five Gravesend properties within a 10-hour period has been jailed.

Keiron Butler caused considerable damage as he broke into sheds and garages in the Shorne area overnight between Sunday 4 and Monday 5 May 2025 and stole property during his crime spree including power tools, gardening equipment and a ride on lawn mower valued at over £6,500.

On Wednesday 7 May, Police on patrol in Valley Drive saw a car drive through a red light before speeding off. The driver was Butler, and he drove dangerously whilst being pursued until he came to a stop in Windsor Road and was detained.

Following his arrest, investigators connected Butler to the Shorne break-ins due to the GPS signal emitted by his electronic tag. Butler, from Gravesend was charged and pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court to five counts of burglary, two counts of damaging property, theft and dangerous driving. On Tuesday 20 January 2026, the 32-year-old was sentenced to two years and four months’ imprisonment. He was also disqualified from driving for two years.

Investigating officer, PC Patrycja Kaczmarek, said:

‘Butler carried out a blatant spate of burglaries, causing damage to property in the process, with no consideration of the impact on his victims. His driving whilst making off from police was appalling and endangered other road users, and a custodial sentence for the prolific offender is entirely justified.’
