One of the UK’s biggest coastal family festivals is back to make waves this summer as the Dover Harbour Festival returns on the 4th and 5th of July, promising an action-packed weekend of seaside adventure for families across Kent and beyond. As a firm highlight in the summer calendar, the event perfectly blends thrilling waterside races with vibrant local culture and entertainment for all ages.
The aquatic action kicks off on Saturday 4th July with the highly anticipated return of the popular dragon boat races. Making a splash alongside the racing are the brand-new Dover Harbour Festival Sea Swim, captivating RNLI demonstrations, and the competitive Cinque Ports Sailing Race.
For those who prefer to keep their feet on dry land, Saturday also offers the chance to run away with the circus. For the very first time, families can test their juggling and plate-spinning skills at a pop-up circus school in Clocktower Square. Street-style performers will be on hand to entertain crowds with interactive dance, music, and puppet shows, while fan-favourite activities like crazy golf make a welcome return. Visitors can also explore over 100 stalls showcasing local charities, art, and culture, adding to the lively, unmissable atmosphere.
No festival is complete without a soundtrack, and this year’s live music lineup does not disappoint. On Saturday 4th July, crowds will be treated to the sounds of Chris Ray, Alligator Gumbo, The Ratzkins, The Pantasy Steel Band, and South Coast Samba. The musical merriment continues into Sunday 5th July with performances from Callum Sutton, The Altones, and The Red Stripe Band.
